A faculty team of Haramaya University led by Prof. Nigussie Dechasa, Academic Vice President held a series of fruitful discussions with a team of academics from Purdue University, USA headed by Prof. Gebisa Ejeta on the possibilities of partnerships in the areas of teaching, advising and other areas of technical cooperation.

Issues pertaining to long term ties between the Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (Climate SABC) and Purdue University in terms of bringing in professors for lectures, mobilizing laboratory and other technological resources as well as on modalities of assigning research supervisors for PhD and MSc students were raised and discussed in detail.

Prof. Nigussie Dechassa, who is also Leader of the Center highlighted the commitment of Haramaya University towards realizing such partnerships with quality training like that of Purdue thereby realizing the goal of building a true center of excellence.

Prof. Gebisa Ejeta and colleagues pledge their time and knowledge to partner with the center in providing lectures, technical assistance, as well as mobilizing additional resource persons from their University.
