A team of experts from Makerere University (Uganda), Haramaya University (Ethiopia), University of Kinshasa (DRC), University of Nairobi (Kenya) and RUFORUM has participated in a two days Regional meeting on Green Economy and Climate Finance conducted on 17th to 18th December 2025at Royal Suites Hotel, Kampala, Uganda.  The main objectives of the meeting include (1) discussions on development of a regional MSc program in Green Economy and Climate Financing; and (2) Development of a concept note for potential collaborative on building African Green Economy Ecosystem”. The meeting is a follow up of earlier conversations facilitated by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Africa (RUFORUM). Haramaya University was represented by Dr. Bobe Bedadi who is the deputy Center Leader and Training and Research head of ACE Climate SABC. The collaborating universities are expected to implement the MSc program or its components in the context of their own institution by getting approval from the concerned bodies. The draft concept notes for potential collaborative on building the African Green Economy Ecosystem will be refined further and submitted to RUFORUM for further facilitation. The initiative is part of developing regional capacity in green economy and climate financing areas to be able to harness available resources in the region to the fullest capacity. The meeting was supported by RUFORUM and facilitated by Makerere University.
