Nairobi – The ACE II Project Secretariat undertook a five day Communication Training for Officers from the Africa Higher Education Centers of Excellence in Nairobi, Kenya where Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (ACE Climate SABC) also took part.
Prof. Mike Kuria, Deputy Executive Secretary of Inter University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), on his official opening speech of training underscored the importance of the training, particularly when it is translated in to practice at the trainees respective Centres of Excellence.
“We have to be aware of the multi-stakeholders of the ACEs and the stakeholders need to know what we have achieved.” He added, “The success of the project will depend on the quality of the communication coming from your Centers and how successfully you communicate to your stakeholders.”
The training covers variety topics in Public Relations, PR strategy, Strategic Communications, Communication Plans, Monitoring and Evaluation and Stakeholder Mapping among other things. Moreover, topics in digital communication and social media management were also addressed in the training and practical applications were demonstrated by the trainers.
Trainees were highly impressed by the quality of the training and by the interactive approach that kept everyone active and involved in all the sessions. “The training would be indispensable in our activities of promoting our respective Centers of Excellence as well as in our carrier in the future”, said a participant.
The Eastern and Southern Africa Higher Education Centers of Excellence Project (ACE II) is a five year project which seeks to strengthen 24 competitively selected Centers to deliver quality, market-relevant post-graduate education in Eastern and Southern Africa. IUCEA is the Regional Facilitation Unit of the ACE II Project.
The Africa Center of Excellence for Climate Smart Agriculture and Biodiversity Conservation (Climate SABC) is one of the 24 Centers of Excellence in Africa funded by the World Bank under its ACE II project.
